Acquire the Installer: Obtain the client software directly from your organization’s IT department or download the legacy platform via Software Informer gateProtect Portal. Run Setup: Double-click the installation executable file.
Complete the Wizard: Follow the on-screen installation prompts and accept the terms.
Restart: Reboot your computer if prompted to ensure the virtual network adapters initialize properly. Step 2: Configuring the VPN Connection
gateProtect utilizes a wizard-driven configuration model where settings are exported by the firewall and imported by the client. Method A: Automated Configuration (Recommended)
Export from Firewall: The network administrator generates a configuration file (.vpo or similar format) from the gateProtect Administration Client.
Import to Client: Open your gateProtect VPN Client, locate the connection management tab, and select Import.
Load the File: Browse and choose the configuration file provided by your IT administrator. This automatically sets up the gateway address, protocols, and required cryptographic profiles. Method B: Manual Configuration
Create New Profile: Open the client and click Add or New Connection.
Choose Protocol: Select either IPsec or VPN-over-SSL depending on company network architecture.
Enter Gateway Parameters: Type in the public IP address or Domain Name (FQDN) of the gateProtect corporate firewall.
Bind Certificates: If using SSL with X.509, upload your user certificate files (usually provided as a .p12 or .pfx package) into the security options tab.
Adjust Route Settings: If you experience routing conflicts where your local internet drops, navigate to the VPN settings and disable the Default gateway option to enforce split-tunneling. Step 3: Using the VPN Client
Launch the Application: Open the gateProtect VPN Client from your desktop or system tray.
Select Profile: Pick your target connection profile from the drop-down menu.
Authenticate: Click Connect. Enter your corporate username and password when prompted.
